This has long been one of my favorite quotes, and a foundational value of my life:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” (MLK Jr.)
But I hadn’t known that he borrowed this formulation from Buddha!:
“Hatred does not cease through hatred at any time. Hatred ceases through love. This is an unalterable law.”
Fantastic, and still beautiful, no matter whose mouth it comes from.
